Life is crazy! | July 14th, 2008
So I’ve once again made a big change in my career and as of August 25th I will be teaching third grade at a Montessori school in Springfield. I am super excited about it and I am currently spending my summer completing a portion of my Montessori training here in CT while also working evenings at Sylvan. So life is very busy but I’m looking forward to having my own classroom in the fall.
Other than the job, there isn’t too much going on right now. We’re getting really excited about CTLX (July 25-27) and we’re also happy to say that Kara is finally housebroken. It only took her a year! She’s a big girl now and doing big girl things (like sleeping and chewing her red bone constantly) and we’re very proud of her.
No pictures this time, but I’ll update as soon as I’m in my classroom!
My Nintendoz. Let me show you them. Tags: Nintendo, Videogames | May 17th, 2008
I collect old videogames. I collect new videogames, too, but this post is about the old ones.
I thought I should take a few pictures of my collection, so I’ve started small with the following photo of every Nintendo system ever released in the US*
*I’m missing a few variations of systems -namely the Original Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket iterations of the Gameboy hardware.
Penny Weiz Tags: Beer | May 15th, 2008
The Olde Burnside Brewing Company is near and dear to my heart for several reasons; one of which is that they make really good beer (particularly their “Dirty Penny” dark ale offering) and another is that they’re located in East Hartford, just minutes from our house.
Old Burnside doesn’t often bring new beers to the market, so when they do I consider it something of an Event. Recently they released a new Hefeweizen-style beer called Penny Weiz and naturally I picked up a growler as soon as I saw it in the store (did I mention they only sell beer in growlers? That’s another reason they’re awesome).
The beer is very orangey, which the label leads us to expect. The taste is more gimmicky than I typically like in a glass. I can see myself enjoying one glass in an evening and then moving on to other beers, but probably not more than that. I expect that enjoyers of the Shipyard Pumpkin Ale (not my favorite pumpkin offering) would greatly enjoy this beer.
Re-invigorating my blog! Tags: House, Kara, Wedding | May 15th, 2008
Considering the fact that we’ve been married almost 2 years now, I thought it was about time to update my blog. The wedding was amazing, we bought a great house in Vernon, and got an adorable puppy named Kara Thrace (see her photos in our gallery!). Things are going pretty well for us and we try to get out and dance as often as possible. Stay tuned for updates as I try to post here more regularly.
No one actually reads this anyway Tags: Wedding | May 8th, 2006
Hi all!
So, some recent wedding things: We met with the people at the Spring House and we’re all set for the ceremony and reception outside on their patio.
We will also have our ceremony on their front lawn overlooking the ocean.
Lots and lots of wedding stuff! Tags: Wedding | April 19th, 2006
So I’ve kind of been slacking on my blog, and Michael’s tell me I should blog more, so here goes… I’ve actually been getting lots of stuff done this week because I’m on vacation from teaching and actually have some free time! We’re meeting with both the florist and the Block Island Reception site this Sunday, so that will all be finalized soon. I’m so excited! I’m also working on figuring out the details for the At-Home Reception, so information about that should be going out soon. Other than that, I’ve been able to do a lot of the fun wedding stuff like picking out Ruth’s (my maid of honor) dress and deciding on decorations and flowers. I know it all sounds boring, but it’s a lot of fun for me. Oh, and one last update since my last blog: a good family friend of the Delaneys (Paul Sawyer) has been wonderful enough to offer his services as an officant for our wedding. Yay! Ok, I think that’s all, but I’ll keep you posted as more happens!
Yay for wedding stuff! Tags: Wedding | April 3rd, 2006
I had an incredibly productive day today and actually got a few things done for the wedding! We’re going to a cake tasting this week, and we also went to try on rings today. Yay!
The real reason I’m posting is because we spoke to the Spring House today about available rooms, and while they require a 2 night stay for weekends, they have 5 rooms available for the Friday/Saturday combination and 8 rooms available for the Saturday/Sunday combination. They’re going fast though, so if you do want to stay where the actual wedding will be held, contact them soon. If not, call a different hotel soon.
Okay, well I don’t have much else to share and don’t know if anyone else is actually reading this, but I’m excited!
So now for the real first post… Tags: Wedding | April 1st, 2006
Hi everyone. And welcome to my first-ever blog. A place where I can ramble on about anything and everything wedding related. Things have been kind of crazy since we moved up the wedding an ENTIRE year, but they’re calming down a little bit. Michael’s been wonderful and has been handling the details until I finish student teaching in a few weeks. I can’t wait!
As for wedding stuff, we’re heading out to BI soon to finalize ceremony and reception stuff as well as meet with all of the different vendors. I also ordered my dress, which is really exciting. We also mailed out save the dates, which is probably how you knew that this website existed.
The main thing I have to say in this exciting first post is that if you are planning on staying on the island for more than just the wedding day, please call ASAP for hotel rooms (see our “Hotels” tab on top of the site). The wedding is in the midst of tourist season, so rooms tend to go fast. I can’t wait and I’m so excited to share our happiness with everyone. Yay wedding!
